Freekids Peuterspelen De Pionier

Welcome to Freekids Peuterspelen De Pionier, located at Kerkstraat 52 in the centre of Wormerveer. We are a small-scale toddler day-care centre within Integral Child Centre (IKC) De Pionier, specially designed for children aged 2 to 4. Our aim is to prepare toddlers for primary school in a playful and educational way, with fun in learning and play at the heart of everything we do. We work with one permanent group of up to 16 children. This set-up provides calm and familiarity: your child sees the same pedagogical professionals every day and is part of a close-knit group of peers. Each morning starts with a play-in session: from 8:20 a.m. parents are welcome to play together with their child or take part in a joint activity. This moment strengthens the link between home and day care and shows parents how we work on language and social skills. Our pedagogical policy is aimed at optimally stimulating each child’s development. We offer a continuous line to primary school by using the Early Childhood Education (VVE) programme Startblokken. This programme focuses on language development, numeracy and social skills and dovetails seamlessly with the early years of OBS De Pionier. In addition, we work with themes that connect to toddlers’ world of experience. Each new period is introduced via a newsletter and a notice on the window, so parents know exactly which words and activities are central and how they can continue this at home. Bookstart is part of our daily routine. We read aloud, sing songs and use picture books to increase language skills. For language stimulation we use the interactive programme Logo 3000. The pedagogical professionals attend an annual study day on Startblokken and receive regular training from our pedagogical coach to ensure the best possible support for each child. Our premises meet all the requirements of the Childcare Act. We use certified furniture, provide a safe indoor and outdoor space and have a clear Health and Safety Policy. Every day the children are offered a healthy snack and we take any allergies or dietary requirements into account. We value parental involvement. Four times a year we organise a themed meeting together with Centrum Jong, where parents receive information on parenting and development. In addition, each toddler is assigned a permanent mentor: a pedagogical professional who is the first point of contact for parents and pays extra attention to the child’s well-being.
