DONS Dongeschool

DONS Dongeschool is our after-school care location at Dintelstraat 5 in Amsterdam-Zuid. We are situated on the grounds of primary school Dongeschool, allowing us to collect children from grade 3 through grade 8 directly from their classrooms after school. On regular school days we are open from 15:00 to 18:30; on Wednesdays we already welcome children from 12:30 onwards, so they can join us right after early dismissal. Our spacious group room accommodates up to 85 children and is arranged with different corners where children can choose what they want to do: from building with LEGO to quietly reading in our reading corner or getting creative in the art studio. We work with fixed pedagogical staff who know the children well and encourage them to discover new things. In addition to indoor activities, we make daily use of the adjacent schoolyard and the green playing field behind the school; here children can play football, tag or simply enjoy running around. We believe it is important that children can unwind after an intensive school day, but also recharge with new energy. Therefore, besides free playtime, we also offer organised activities such as sports & games, crafts and cooking. Our pedagogical staff tailor the programme to the children’s interests and actively involve them in planning new outings. We regularly go on excursions in the neighbourhood: to Amstelpark, the petting zoo or a playground in the Zuidas area.
