IJsterk Dikkie Dik

Welcome to IJsterk Dikkie Dik, located in a beautiful 19th-century former school building at Nieuwe Kerkstraat 126 in Amsterdam’s city centre. Our daycare welcomes children from 0 to 4 years in a bright, spacious and secure setting. The large group rooms open onto a sheltered garden where children can explore a playhouse, a challenging climbing hut with slide and a big sandpit. We go outside every day—rain or shine—so the children can ride bikes, run and let their imagination run free. Healthy living is woven into every day. Our own cook prepares a fresh, healthy hot lunch four days a week; on the fifth day the children enjoy a nutritious bread meal. Kids help in the kitchen, discovering ingredients, tastes and textures while having fun. Daily outdoor play is complemented by movement sessions in our large indoor hall when the weather keeps us inside. Dikkie Dik is managed by Sara Baars, who leads a close-knit team of experienced educators. Together we create a warm, home-like atmosphere where every child feels safe and valued. Personal attention, continuity of care and strong parent partnership are at the heart of everything we do.
