De Wijzelaar Start

Welcome to De Wijzelaar Start, the toddler day-care centre in Veghel where your child takes the very first step towards primary school. We are located at De Langedonk 1, in the same building as primary school De Wijzelaar. This makes us part of an integral child centre: a safe, familiar place where toddlers aged 2 to 4 feel at home and develop naturally through play. At De Wijzelaar Start we work with small, horizontal groups of up to 16 children. We provide care on Monday and Tuesday mornings. Each group is guided by two qualified, permanent pedagogical staff members who understand what toddlers need: calm, structure and room to explore. Because we are housed inside the school, our primary-school colleagues can drop by regularly. In this way the children get used to the school environment and to the teachers who will later be their own. Our pedagogical principle is simple yet powerful: ‘You are fine just the way you are’. We see every child as unique and use natural curiosity to stimulate language, motor skills and social abilities. In our atelier we paint and model with clay, in the garden we discover insects and plants, and during circle time we practise words and sentences. We consciously work with themes that connect to the world toddlers live in, so that learning remains a celebration. Safety and health are our top priorities. We follow the Safety and Health Policy of Verdi Start and take allergies or dietary wishes into account. Parents receive a development report twice a year and are always welcome for a chat. Together we make sure your child enters primary school with a broad smile and a solid foundation.
