De Vrijvoeters

BSO De Vrijvoeters is part of Kindcentrum De Vrijvoeters, located at Bergselaan 346 in Rotterdam. Our after-school care is housed in a clearly arranged building adjacent to an inviting natural garden. This garden has its own section for the BSO, allowing children to run, climb and explore right after school. Our pedagogical staff walk to Daltonschool De Margriet every day to pick up the children. Once at the location, the children gather in their base group to relax and enjoy a drink and a bite to eat. Afterwards they can move freely through the building for a variety of activities: playing together with friends, acting in the theatre corner, getting creative in the craft corner, or curling up with a book by the window. We work with a thematic activity schedule, yet we find it equally important to follow the children’s own initiatives. One afternoon may revolve around sports and movement in the garden, while the next is dedicated to making music or crafting. We regularly invite external experts to run workshops, so the children can continuously discover new things. During school holidays we join BSO Vakantieland. For six weeks all BSOs in the neighbourhood combine forces and offer one large holiday programme packed with fun and challenging activities built around changing themes. Think sports and game days, creative workshops, nature excursions and cultural outings. Parental involvement is very important to us. We inform parents personally at pick-up and drop-off and are always open to questions or ideas. Together we ensure that every child feels safe, seen and challenged at BSO De Vrijvoeters.
