De Vlinderboom op school

De Vlinderboom op school is our after-school care (BSO) exclusively for children of the Rudolf Steinerschool Haarlem, located at Duitslandlaan 3 in Haarlem. We provide on-site care so that children remain within the familiar environment of their school. Our pedagogical approach is anthroposophical: rhythm, regularity and repetition are central. In this way we create a secure second home where every child feels seen. Our BSO is organised in vertical groups: toddlers and older children together, plus separate groups for older pupils. Each afternoon we welcome up to 80 children under the guidance of eight pedagogical staff. Opening hours are aligned with the school timetable: lunch care from 13.00 and 14.50 for toddlers and children in grades 1–2, long afternoon care from 13.00 – 18.30 and short afternoon care from 14.50 – 18.30. During all school holidays we are open from 08.00 – 18.30 at the same location. In our homely setting with kitchen, sofa and challenging play materials, children can relax, do crafts in the studio, play outside in the schoolyards or enjoy cooking when the weather is poor. We use only organic-biodynamic food and provide a healthy lunch and fruit circle at the end of the day. During holidays we organise outings to places such as the dunes, forest or farm.
