De Vlinderboom op school

Peutergroep De Vlinderboom op school is located on the ground floor of the Rudolf Steiner School at Duitslandlaan 3, Haarlem. From the age of 2.5, children are welcome for a calm, homely morning programme that dovetails with the anthroposophical kindergarten. We run two fixed horizontal groups: Monday through Thursday and Tuesday through Friday. A flexible Wednesday group is also available for children who want extra mornings or need a gentle start. Our day begins at 08:15 with a circle time of songs, verses and the daily rhythm. Children then move into free play: building with natural materials, crafting with beeswax and wool, baking bread in the kitchen or helping in the garden. A predictable sequence gives the young child security and confidence. Around 10:30 we share freshly baked bread with organic toppings and herbal tea or water. After that the children play outside in our sheltered yard or listen to a fairy tale told by the pedagogical staff. Pick-up is at 12:30. All places are subsidised by the municipality of Haarlem. Non-working parents can use this toddler care; working parents receive childcare allowance from the Dutch Tax Office. Holidays match the Rudolf Steiner School calendar so families keep one schedule.
