De Spetterfluiter

Welcome to De Spetterfluiter, our day-care centre located at Ring 1 in the heart of Nagele. We provide a safe and cosy environment where children aged 0 to 4 feel completely at home. The centre has two horizontal groups: Spetterfluiter 1 for babies 0-2 years and Spetterfluiter 2 for toddlers 2-4 years. Each group welcomes up to 16 children and is guided by at least four regular pedagogical staff members, ensuring every child receives the personal attention they deserve. At De Spetterfluiter we work according to the Gordon method. This means we approach children with respect, listen to their needs and give them space to make their own choices. We focus on positive attention and help children solve conflicts themselves in a respectful way. Our pedagogical staff truly know each child: every child has a fixed mentor who is the contact person for parents and who closely follows the child’s development. The day starts calmly. We sing the ‘enjoy your meal/drink’ song together, after which the children enjoy their sandwiches with savoury and sweet toppings at the table. In between they receive milk, tea or water. Afterwards there is room for free play: building with blocks, crafting, reading aloud or romping around in our safe garden. When the weather allows, we go outside where children can run, build sandcastles and discover what nature has to offer. Inside, high playpens are ready for the little ones and challenging toys for the toddlers. Around 12.00 we bring the tired children to bed. Each child has their own sleeping place with cuddly toy and pacifier. We keep track of exactly how long they sleep, so parents know how the day went. Nappy changes are also done with care: we use the products provided by parents and pay close attention to each child’s skin. Special dietary requirements or allergies are discussed in advance, so every child can stay with us safely and confidently. Parents find an open door with us. We take time for a chat when dropping off and picking up, share the day’s highlights and keep parents informed via our parent portal. The parent council actively contributes to policy and we regularly organise joint parties. Together we create a warm place where children can play, grow and above all: be themselves.
