Welcome to De Rotterdamse Peuterschool, location Obs Nelson Mandela at Jacominastraat 64 in Rotterdam-Feijenoord. As part of De Rotterdamse Peuterschool, we offer a professional early childhood education setting for toddlers aged 2 to 4, focused entirely on preparing them for primary school. We operate exclusively with VVE groups. Our qualified pedagogical staff apply the Peuterstappen model and align outcome-oriented working steps with the Education Inspectorate’s assessment framework. This allows us to systematically monitor whether we meet Rotterdam’s quality standards. Movement is a daily priority: children have ample space to be active both indoors and outdoors. Ball games, climbing and jumping develop gross motor skills, while targeted materials refine fine motor control. Language development is central. We consistently speak Dutch with children and parents, ensuring everyone is involved in the language process. We explicitly foster emergent literacy and numeracy so that toddlers start primary school with confidence. Our eight promises – including “I’m ready for school”, “I like doing it myself” and “Everyone is my friend” – guide everything we do. The group accommodates up to 32 children in a horizontal structure. We offer both half-day and full-day care, tailored to parents’ needs. Our outdoor area invites exploration and play, while indoors we work in a safe, small-scale setting on social, creative and cognitive skills. Together with parents we create a warm environment where every child can be themselves and is prepared for a promising start in life.
