Welcome to De Rotterdamse Peuterschool, location IKC De Nieuwe Haven at Nassauhaven 180 in Rotterdam. As part of Stichting De Rotterdamse Peuterschool, this location offers toddler care exclusively for children aged 2 to 4. We focus entirely on this age group, providing a safe and stimulating environment where toddlers can develop to their full potential. Our qualified pedagogical staff work according to the pedagogical policy plan of Peuter & Co. Together with parents we pursue eight key goals: stimulating self-reliance, respecting each child’s individuality, building self-esteem, learning to handle one’s own abilities, learning to reflect on behaviour, developing trust in people, transmitting values and norms, and dealing with emotions. We use the Peuterstappen model, an outcome-oriented approach aligned with Rotterdam quality standards. Physical activity is central to our programme: every day we go outside to our natural, safely enclosed playground overlooking the Nassauhaven. Here children can play and help tend our vegetable garden. In bad weather we use the gym and spacious hall, ensuring there is always room for movement. Creative development is encouraged through arts & crafts and other creative activities. Language development receives special attention: we read aloud, sing songs and play language games. Dutch is our language of instruction; we also encourage parents to speak Dutch with their child at home, reinforcing development from both sides. We offer both full and half-day sessions. For children under two we run a weekly playgroup on Wednesday mornings from 08:30 to 10:00, where parents and children can get acquainted, share experiences and become familiar with the toddler school. Parental involvement is important to us: an active parent committee contributes to policy. Together with parents we ensure every child makes a strong start and moves on to primary school with confidence.
