Welcome to De Rotterdamse Peuterschool, location De Klaver Heijplaat – a warm, small-scale toddler daycare in the historic harbour district of Heijplaat. We are part of Stichting Peuter & Co and offer a safe and stimulating environment for up to 16 children aged 2 to 4 at our Vestastraat 15 location, where they learn and grow through play. Our approach is centred on conscious learning through play. We use the VVE programme ‘Uk & Puk’, with themes that connect to toddlers’ everyday experiences – such as “Phew, it’s hot” in summer or “Sneezing in autumn”. Through singing, dancing, crafting and storytelling we stimulate not only speech and language development, but also social-emotional and motor skills. Our experienced pedagogical staff follow each child’s individual pace and tailor activities accordingly. We believe children should feel safe and seen. That is why we work with familiar faces and a homely atmosphere. There is a quiet nap room for those who still need a rest, a cosy corner for reading and being read to, and a sheltered outdoor space where children can run around, build sandcastles or simply enjoy fresh-air play. We provide healthy snacks and lunch, taking allergies or dietary requirements into account. Parents are welcome too. We communicate openly and informally, organise regular parent meetings and are always ready for a chat or advice. Together we ensure your child starts primary school with a flying start.
