Peuteropvang Al Ghazali

De Rotterdamse Peuterschool, location Al Ghazali, is a day-care centre in the heart of Delfshaven where 32 toddlers take a flying start every day. We are part of Stichting Peuter & Co and work according to a clear pedagogical policy aimed at the development of children aged 2 to 4. Our groups are horizontally organised, so that every toddler is offered activities that exactly match his or her stage of development. Learning through play is central to our approach. We offer language and numeracy activities that stimulate emerging literacy and numeracy, so that the children can start primary school with confidence. There is also plenty of room for creative development: crafts, drawing and building are on the programme every day. We consider exercise just as important; every day we go outside to climb, run and play in our safe garden. In this way we work on both gross and fine motor skills. Safety and trust are our foundation. We work with fixed pedagogical staff who really know each child. Parents are actively involved: we talk every day and regularly organise parent meetings. Dutch is our language of communication; in this way we want to give all children and parents the same opportunities and optimally support language development. Special attention is given to children with a different home language – we give parents concrete tips to also stimulate the Dutch language at home. We offer both half-day and full-day care. During lunch the children eat a sandwich with toppings and a drink together. Fruit and drinks are available throughout the day. For children with food allergies we make appropriate arrangements with parents. After lunch there is time to sleep quietly in our separate sleeping area. The location is equipped with secure access and a spacious, green playground where children can move and explore freely.
