De Paddestoel

Welcome to KDV De Paddestoel, located at Aletta Jacobsweg 82 in Assen. We are part of Kindcentrum De Kabouters, a small-scale, professional childcare organisation that has been caring for children in the Lariks and Kloosterveen districts since 1993. Our focus is on personal attention and small group sizes. Children are cared for in fixed core groups by experienced pedagogical staff, ensuring every child receives the attention they deserve. Our De Paddestoel location is dedicated to children aged 0 to 4. We use a vertical group structure, allowing siblings to stay together and children of different ages to learn from one another. Younger children are inspired by the older ones, while the older children learn to be considerate of the younger. The layout, activities, and daily schedule are all tailored to the natural rhythms of the children. We believe a rich learning environment best supports young children's development. Daily activities include music and dance in our music/dance room, creative sessions in the art studio, and exploration in our vegetable garden and petting farm. We regularly go on outdoor excursions to experience nature and learn about animals and plants. Cooking and baking are also part of our routine in the teaching kitchen, where children discover where food comes from. For our youngest guests, we provide quiet sleeping areas and personalised bottle-feeding and changing routines. Everything your child needs – from nappies to sunscreen – is included. We accommodate special dietary needs such as halal, gluten-free, or lactose-free diets. Safety is a top priority: our spaces are child-friendly and staffed by qualified, dedicated professionals who treat every child as a unique individual.
