De Paddenpoel

De PaddenPoel is our green nature-based after-school care (BSO) for children from 8 years old, located in the Visitor Centre De Veenweiden at Burgemeester Bruins Slotsingel 15 in Alphen aan den Rijn. We are a themed BSO completely focused on nature experience and adventure. Together with IVN Nature Education, we offer a unique program where children truly get to know nature. Our location is the perfect base for surprising discovery tours through the peat meadow area. We set up survival courses, organize scavenger hunts through the forest, and sow and harvest vegetables in our own vegetable garden. We spend lots of time outdoors, exactly how children like it! Inside we have a beautiful space where we can play when we want, but the real magic happens outside. We pick up children aged 8 and 9 from all primary schools in Alphen with our Junis minibuses or taxi. From age 10, children learn to come to De PaddenPoel as independently as possible. We are open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 14:45 to 18:30. During holidays we provide care from 07:00 to 18:30 on these days. Wednesday and Friday care is available at Waterlopers. At De PaddenPoel we believe that children best understand nature by actively engaging with it themselves. We make use of the rich environment of De Veenweiden and work intensively with nature education experts to offer a program that is challenging, educational and above all incredibly fun.
