De Nieuwe Nachtegaal

Welcome to BSO De Nieuwe Nachtegaal, located on the first floor of the modern community building at Mezenhof 28 in Rotterdam's Oud-Charlois district. We provide after-school care for up to 40 children aged 4 to 13 years. Our team of pedagogical professionals is ready every day to offer children a safe and stimulating place after school. Everything we do revolves around learning through play and discovery. We have a large playground with vegetable garden, sandbox and bicycles where children can play to their heart's content. Our green discovery garden invites adventure: digging in the vegetable garden, practicing on bikes or visiting the petting zoo together. This way, children learn about the world around them in a playful manner. After school, we always start with a joint moment in a circle. Here we talk about the day's experiences, weekend plans or vacation stories. Then there's room for personal choice: playing together with friends, making music or being creative. We regularly organize sports activities and make full use of the extensive outdoor space for play and movement. Our pedagogical professionals work according to Partou's six building blocks. We create a powerful pedagogical climate in which every child feels safe and seen. This forms the basis for optimal development of resilience and self-confidence. Through our own app, parents can experience their child's day and stay informed about all activities. BSO De Nieuwe Nachtegaal is part of the De Nieuwe Nachtegaal Community House, a vibrant place in the neighborhood where other facilities can also be found. We collaborate with primary schools in the immediate area to safely guide children from school to after-school care. Together we ensure that children can unwind after a busy school day and recharge in a familiar environment.
