De Kleine Machinist

Welcome to De Kleine Machinist, our daycare centre located at Willem Buytewechstraat 45 in Rotterdam. We are part of KomKids, an HKZ/ISO 9001 certified organisation, and provide childcare in a beautiful monumental building with a separate entrance on the side of the building. Everything we do revolves around play and development for children aged 0 to 4 years, divided into four vertical groups. Our location offers rich opportunities: children can watch films in our cinema room, practise dance moves in the dance studio and enjoy a daily fresh, healthy warm meal specially prepared for them by the restaurant of De Machinist. We spend lots of time outdoors: right next to our childcare centre lies the Kleine Avonturenpark, a playground with views of passing ships. We also regularly visit the Parksluizen, Euromastpark, the library, the petting zoo and other fun places in the neighbourhood using our cargo bike and pushcart. Each month is dedicated to a theme that we actively connect with the outside world. Our Reading Coach provides extra attention to language development, not only during the National Reading Days. We believe it's important for children to discover their talents: twice a year our pedagogical professionals create a performance together with the oldest children – 'Circus' in summer and 'Geen Stille Nacht' around Christmas. The oldest toddlers also receive a series of four art lessons in the children's studio. Parents are involved too: the Parent Committee organises an annual information session and a joint outing with children and parents. At De Kleine Machinist, maintaining good contact with parents is central, and we discover the neighbourhood and the big city together every day. We warmly welcome both children of employees or tenants of De Machinist and children of parents without any connection to De Machinist to come play and grow with us.
