De Kladderkatjes

Peuterleerplek De Kladderkatjes is located at Nijkerklaan 11 in the Morgenstond district (Escamp) of The Hague and is part of JongLeren, a Hague-based organisation operating several pre-school playgroups. We focus specifically on children aged 2.5 to 4 and work closely with primary school De Gelderlandschool, situated just around the corner at Nijkerklaan 9. Thanks to this partnership we use the same educational programme ‘Startblokken’ and the principles of Development-Oriented Education (OGO). In this way your child acquires skills and experiences through play that will be immediately useful when starting primary school. At De Kladderkatjes the pedagogical staff members Rahana, Ria and Lea guide a maximum of 16 children divided into two fixed horizontal groups. Group A attends on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 08.15 – 11.30 and on Thursday and Friday afternoons from 12.00 – 15.15. Group B attends on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 12.00 – 15.15 and on Thursday and Friday mornings from 08.15 – 11.30. We are closed on Wednesday afternoons and on the school-free Wednesday afternoons, but remain open on De Gelderlandschool’s staff training days so parents always have childcare. Our programme focuses on language, numeracy, independence, music and arts & crafts. We sing songs, create colourful artwork and practise vocabulary through stories and conversations. Children learn to do things independently and build self-confidence through play. Parents can also take part in ‘Samenspel’, a free weekly get-together where parents and their toddlers from age 2 come to play in a safe, child-friendly environment. Enrolment is easy via www.jonglerendenhaag.nl. Children with a referral from the Centre for Youth and Family receive 16 hours of pre-school free of charge each week; all other Hague children pay an income-related fee for 8 hours per week.
