Welcome to KDV Old Skool, our small-scale daycare centre located at Willem Lodewijkstraat 68 in Wolvega. We provide care for up to 32 children aged 0 to 4 years in a homely, safe environment where every child is given the space to develop at their own pace. At KDV Old Skool we work with fixed, qualified pedagogical staff who really get to know each child. We use horizontal grouping: babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers are kept separate so that we can tailor activities precisely to your child’s age and developmental stage. Our spacious indoor and outdoor areas invite play and discovery. Inside you will find challenging play corners, a quiet bedroom with cots and a cosy reading corner; outside children can romp in the secure garden with sandpit, slide and water/sand table. When the weather is nice we picnic outside and regularly go on short trips in the neighbourhood. Development is the common thread in our programme. We offer pre-school education (VVE), stimulating language, numeracy and social skills through play. Think of reading aloud, singing, building, crafts and cooking in our children’s cook café. We work thematically: one week about the forest, the next about traffic or seasons. Each theme includes creative activities, excursions and stories that spark imagination and expand vocabulary. Our unique Kinderkei Jungle – a covered indoor play paradise – is also popular: here children climb, clamber and balance on safe, challenging equipment. Care and routine are paramount. We follow your child’s home rhythm as closely as possible; bottle feeding, naps and potty training are arranged in consultation with you. Fruit snacks, bread meals and drinks are included; for food allergies we are happy to adjust the menu. For the very youngest we have bottle warmers, changing materials and cuddle blankets ready. Toddlers help clear the table themselves, learning responsibility through play. Parents experience our care as personal and involved. Every morning we briefly discuss how the night went and at the end of the day we give detailed feedback. For extra flexibility half-days are possible and we are open Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm (by arrangement from 7:00 am and until 6:30 pm).
