Kinderwoud Witmarsum

Welcome to De Kinderen van September, our small-scale daycare centre in the heart of Witmarsum. Since June 2019 we are located in the former Rabobank building at Van Aylvaweg 38, where we offer children aged 0 to 4 a homely and safe place to play, grow and discover. We work with three fixed horizontal groups: a 0-2 group, a 2-4 group and an after-school group for older children. This set-up allows the youngest to settle calmly in a safe baby environment, while toddlers practise new skills every day in a challenging toddler corner. Our qualified staff tailor activities to each child’s age and stage of development. We sing songs in Dutch and Frisian, read picture books and do arts and crafts with a variety of materials. The room is clearly laid out with a dolls’ corner, construction corner, craft corner and a quiet reading nook. These corners are changed regularly so there is always something new to discover. Outside we have a secure playground where children can run, cycle and build sandcastles to their heart’s content. We believe it is important that your child feels completely at home. That is why we work closely with parents and take individual routines and needs into account. Bottles are given on request, healthy fruit and snacks are always available, and we adapt the menu for food allergies. Naps take place in separate sleeping rooms with cots and beds; babies sleep in a quiet room while the toddler group has its own sleeping area. You can also opt for half-days or extra hours of care whenever needed. Since January 2020 we have been participating in the Frisian Language Project. This means there is always one staff member who speaks Frisian and one who speaks Dutch. In this way children playfully learn two languages and are introduced to Frisian culture. Our approach is personal and low-threshold: you are always greeted with a smile at drop-off and we keep you informed via the notice board and in person. Together we ensure that De Kinderen van September remains a place where your child feels safe, loved and challenged.
