De Jonge Ontdekker B.V. at Draaibrug 1 in Houten is a specialized guidance center providing after-school care and support for children aged 4 to 16 with special needs, including autism (ASD), ADHD, ODD, and other developmental challenges. Our BSO program is specifically designed for children who, for whatever reason, do not fit within regular after-school care and need a small-scale, safe, and predictable environment. We work in small groups of maximum six children, grouped by social-emotional age and group dynamics. Each group has fixed, specially trained pedagogical staff with experience in working with our target group. The daily structure is visually supported with pictograms and offers a clear rhythm of activities and rest periods. This predictable framework helps children feel safe and stimulates their development. Our activity program is diverse and focused on training social skills, self-reliance, and emotion regulation. We work with workshops where children can choose from sports, creative activities, nature and outdoor programs, music, and excursions. These activities are carefully designed to combine fun with development. We believe in 'Fun, Independence, and Relaxation' as core values for successful guidance. De Jonge Ontdekker works intensively with parents and conducts regular alignment conversations. We write guidance reports describing and evaluating each child's development in relation to their personal learning goals. These reports are, among other things, intended for extending any care indications. Our center is open Monday through Saturday and also provides care during school holidays. We pick up children from school and ensure safe transfer from school to our location.
