De Doerakken

Welcome to Peuterdagopvang De Doerakken, a warm and secure place for toddlers aged 2 to 4 in the heart of ’s Gravenmoer. Located at Grutterijstraat 22, just a stone’s throw from the village centre, De Doerakken is part of childcare organisation De Toverdroom and serves as the follow-up group to daycare De Bengels. With a maximum of 16 children per day we offer small-scale care in which every child is given space to develop at his or her own pace. At De Doerakken we work with the Uk & Puk Early Childhood Education programme. This recognised pre-school curriculum focuses on language, numeracy and social skills and dovetails perfectly with toddler development. Our pedagogical staff create a rich learning environment in which play and learning go hand in hand. We use themes that connect with the children’s world of experience, such as seasons, animals and their own bodies. Outside there is a spacious, green playground where children can run, climb and explore. We devote a lot of attention to outdoor play and nature experience, because we believe fresh air and free play are essential for healthy development. The daily rhythm at De Doerakken is calm and predictable, exactly what toddlers need. We start the morning together with a song and circle time. After that there is room for free play activities such as building, crafting or role-play. In between we have a drink and some fresh fruit. Around lunchtime we serve a hot meal or a packed lunch, depending on the day’s programme. In the afternoon there is time for rest or a nap in our cosy sleep area. We tailor each child’s sleep rhythm to his or her needs. Parents can use our Parent Portal in Kindplanner to register or deregister easily and share special details via the app. Safety and trust are our top priorities. The site has secure access and operates according to De Toverdroom’s pedagogical policy, which leaves room for individuality, structure and security. We believe it is important that children feel safe and seen. Our staff are qualified and receive regular training to keep their knowledge up to date.
