De Breeeje

Welcome to BSO De Breeeje, located at Notengaard 17 in the heart of Wijk bij Duurstede. As an after-school care facility we are part of the Noorderwaard ‘broad school’ campus and work closely with peuteropvang De Hobbit, kinderdagverblijf ’t Bikkeltje, public primary school de Werkschuit, Christian primary school de Wegwijzer and the Zonnewijzer site for years 5-8. Thanks to this partnership we can offer children from de Werkschuit, de Wegwijzer and de Windroos a familiar, safe place after school hours. Our site sits in a quiet, green area with no through traffic. We have a large, challenging outdoor space that was completely renewed last year. Inside, separate rooms for children aged 7+ and 7- are cosily furnished with age-appropriate play materials. Children actively help decide what we do through our child-participation approach: they co-create activities and themes. Our programme is wide and varied. We bake regularly in our spacious kitchen, run dance, music and cooking workshops, and explore our shared indoor garden with its bee hotel, hedgehog houses and chickens. For sports and games we use the campus gym. We also make grateful use of the local area: trips to the castle park, the windmill and the petting farm are part of the routine. For parents who start early we offer before-school care on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Our pedagogical staff then walk the children to school and ensure a smooth hand-over to the teacher. For children in years 1-4 at the Wegwijzer, Karolingersweg site, we even provide transport in the morning. In short, at De Breeeje children find a safe, green place to play, discover and develop after school.
