Welcome to Kinderopvang De Boerderij, a small-scale daycare centre set in a beautiful green area on the edge of Utrecht. Housed in a charming converted farmhouse at Enghlaan 6A, our family-run facility offers a loving, secure environment for children from 0 to 4 years old. We deliberately keep numbers low – a maximum of 45 children – so every child feels seen, safe and recognised by familiar faces every day. Our educational approach is inspired by Pikler, Reggio Emilia and outdoor learning. We use horizontal groups: two baby groups and three toddler groups, each tailored to the children’s age with dedicated activities and rest times. In addition, we operate two toddler groups specifically for half-day care. Children spend as much time as possible outside in our large, green outdoor area; we believe that playing in nature is the engine for independence, imagination and social development. Under the guidance of qualified, enthusiastic childcare professionals, children explore the world at their own pace and design their own projects, which we then develop together. For the youngest ones we provide nappies and bottle feeding. Babies have separate sleeping rooms where peace and regularity are paramount. The toddler groups participate in early childhood education (VVE) to ensure a smooth transition to primary school. Each group has fixed staff, creating short lines of communication with parents and allowing us to closely follow every child’s development.
