Dak Paets

BSO Dak Paets, formerly known as Koen Dak, is part of Stichting DAK kindercentra and is located within De Horizon primary school in The Hague Laak. Since 2005, we have been providing after-school care for up to 50 children aged 4 to 13 years. The children are divided into three base groups and make use of attractively furnished, spacious and bright classrooms. Our location features an adjacent, spacious and varied outdoor area where children can play to their heart's content. Additionally, they have access to a large public artificial turf field. From a certain age and with parental permission, children are allowed to play outside independently, which contributes to their independence and sense of responsibility. We work from four basic objectives that are central to our pedagogical policy: providing emotional safety, developing personal competence, developing social competence and transferring norms and values. We interact with the children in a sensitive and responsive manner, with respect for their autonomy taking center stage. At the same time, we provide structure and set boundaries so that children feel emotionally safe and secure. By playfully challenging children in the development of their motor, cognitive, language and creative skills, we help them function increasingly independently. We also guide them in their interactions with others and teach them social skills so they can build and maintain independent relationships. Finally, we encourage children to openly engage with generally accepted values and norms, with a view to respectful interaction with others and active participation in society.
