Christoforus Day Care Enschede is located in the fully renovated, energy-neutral building of primary school De Noorderkroon at Elferinksweg 106. Together we form one children’s centre where children aged 0–4 are welcomed into a warm, homely atmosphere. Our work is inspired by anthroposophy: the child is at the centre and we follow each child’s individual developmental rhythm. Our small-scale day-care accommodates up to 24 children. The rooms are furnished with natural materials and sustainable toys; we encourage children to explore with their hands. The youngest have separate, quiet sleeping rooms where each child’s daily rhythm is respected. Outside, children enjoy our green garden that connects to the school playground and the public Stadsveld play area. Here they can play freely, dig in the soil and experience the seasons. Rhythm, cleanliness and regularity form the foundation of our care. We sing, tell stories and allow time for quiet moments. Together we bake bread or prepare organic fruit. Parents experience our collaboration as a close community where upbringing and development go hand in hand.
