Welcome to Kinderdagopvang De Tuinkabouter B.V., located in the monumental building at Heereweg 343 in Lisse. Our daycare is part of Cheeky's, an organization that is "different from the rest". We provide care for up to 51 children aged 0 to 4 years, divided into four horizontal groups: two baby groups (0-2 years), one toddler group (2-3 years), and one pre-school group (3-4 years). Our location breathes an African theme that is reflected in the interior design and the names of our groups: Banana Tree, Quiver Tree, Baobab Tree, and Marula Tree. This theme is a personal choice of our founder Karin Veen, who built her daycare from her passion for children and her South African roots. We offer various forms of childcare: regular childcare, flexible childcare, customized childcare, and flexible customized childcare. This means that as a parent you can choose fixed days, varying days, or even hours that exactly match your work schedule. Our opening hours are from 07:00 to 18:30, with extra hours available on request. Each group has its own bedroom with bunk beds that meet all requirements of the Childcare Act. For babies, we try to maintain the sleep rhythm from home as much as possible, while the toddler groups follow the collective sleep rhythm of once a day in the afternoon. Children sleep in sleeping bags that can be brought from home, but which we also provide. Our pedagogical approach focuses on learning through play. We start each day with "the circle" where we cover themes such as colors, shapes, animals, and weather. We encourage children to choose for themselves where, with whom, and with what they play. When the weather is nice, we go outside to our playground where children can climb, slide, play with sand, and discover nature. When the weather is bad, there is plenty of space to play indoors. We work with the Parent App from KidsKonnect, which keeps parents informed about their child's development. We provide pre-school education (VE) for children with an indication, where we pay extra attention to the Dutch language to promote a good start at primary school. Our staff are all qualified and guarantee professional and loving care. Due to our small scale, we can continue to offer personal attention to each child and respond quickly to parents' wishes. We work with an "open doors" policy, where children can freely move between different spaces at certain times of the day.
