Vrijland Amersfoort B.V. is a true outdoor after-school care located at De Stuw 3 in Amersfoort. Since 2021, children play and move outside 99 % of the time, all year round, inspired by Scandinavian childcare traditions. We offer a safe haven where children can freely develop in nature. Our pedagogical approach is built on four core values: freedom, connection, resilience and positivity. Nature is our ‘Vrijland’; children climb, scramble, make fires, bake treats over the campfire and learn to overcome obstacles. During prolonged rain, extreme cold or thunderstorms we shelter in classrooms, gym halls or a theatre that we can use throughout the year. There we organise sports activities, crafts in our children’s lab, games and creative projects. We work exclusively with organic products. Every day the children receive fresh vegetables, fruit, crackers and corn or rice cakes. Water and tea are always available. On study and holiday days we ask parents to pack a lunch; we provide healthy snacks and drinks. Our ingredients are sourced from Het Lokaal, as locally and sustainably as possible. Vrijland Amersfoort accommodates up to 49 children and is registered in the National Childcare Register under number 840337760. We are open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 14:30 to 18:00.
