BSO de Windroos

BSO de Windroos is part of childcare organisation KaKa and is located inside Daltonschool De Windroos at Proostdijstraat 39 in Mijdrecht. We provide before- and after-school care for up to 30 children aged 4 to 12. Children are divided into two groups: one classroom group with a maximum of 17 children and one group using the school’s work areas with up to 13 children. For outdoor play we use the school playground. Our pedagogical staff work according to the Dalton core values: cooperation, responsibility, independence, reflection and effectiveness. We encourage children to make choices and take responsibility for them, adjusting the level of freedom to each child’s development. Every child is assigned a personal mentor who is the contact person for both parents and child. After school there is time to relax and enjoy free time. We offer a variety of activities such as crafts, games and local outings to places like the deer park or playgrounds. For larger excursions we always request parental permission. Around 5 p.m. children who are still present receive a savoury snack such as a breadstick or cracker. Education and childcare work closely together, so children are familiar with the building and its routines. The transition from childcare to school is therefore smooth. We align themes and materials with the school and involve upper-grade pupils in joint activities like reading aloud or playing games.
