Struin Nijmegen-Oost

Welcome to Struin Nijmegen-Oost, our nature-based after-school care located at Celebesstraat 12 in the heart of Nijmegen-Oost. We are part of Struin, the specialist in nature pedagogy and since 2008 the largest nature childcare organization in the Netherlands. With ten after-school care locations and one daycare center, we provide care for over 900 children who experience the most wonderful nature adventures daily. At Struin Nijmegen-Oost, we pick up children aged 4 to 12 after school with our characteristic Struin group bicycles. Together we explore parks, forests and nature areas in and around Nijmegen. Our pedagogical staff, all trained in nature pedagogy, guide small groups of children in discovering nature. We build huts, make fires, search for beavers and learn all about plants and animals in our environment. We believe in the importance of risky play and children learn to safely explore their boundaries. Our fixed daily structure provides peace and clarity, while always allowing room for free play and discovery. In bad weather we shelter in our shelter location, but usually we're just outside regardless of the weather. We work exclusively with organic and healthy products, where children make herb butter from wild plants or bake bread over the campfire. Struin Nijmegen-Oost works together with various primary schools in the area for a smooth transition from school to after-school care. Parents receive daily updates via our Parent App and can use our return bicycle service. We are registered in the National Childcare Register and accommodate up to 50 children.
