BSO Sterrenrijk

BSO Sterrenrijk is located inside Basisschool Sterrenrijk at Molenstraat 42A, right in the centre of Geleen. Because everything is housed under one roof, we work closely with the school every day and tailor our after-school care to what the children have experienced during the day. We provide care for children aged 4 to 12, both before school (7.30 – 8.30 a.m.) and after school (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 2.30 – 6.30 p.m., Wednesday 12.30 – 6.30 p.m.). During holidays and study days we are open from 7.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. Our spacious, cosy group rooms are right next to our own gym and a large, green outdoor playground. This combination gives children all the space they need after school to let off steam: running, cycling, climbing ropes, playing football or enjoying a board game under the trees. When the weather is bad, play moves effortlessly to the gym, where we organise sports and movement activities that stimulate motor skills and guarantee fun. Holidays are never boring with us. We regularly go on excursions to nature reserves, playgrounds and cultural venues in the region – think of a scavenger hunt in Julianapark, a creative workshop at the Sittard museum or a sports clinic on the local pitch. We also run themed weeks on sustainability and nature experience, during which children learn, for example, how to build an insect hotel or how to harvest seeds for the next flower-picking garden. Dedicated, permanent childcare staff are on hand every day to provide children with a home-like, safe place. We believe it is important that every child feels welcome and seen. That is why we work on a small scale: a maximum of 22 children per group, leaving room for personal attention. Together with parents, we decide what a child needs that day – some quiet time to reflect, homework support or just a good dose of exercise.
