SKSG Pinokkio

Welcome to SKSG Pinokkio, our after-school care (BSO) in the heart of Zuidhorn. We are housed in a beautiful building, specially constructed in the late 1990s for childcare, located at Hooiweg 3, right next to the train station and within walking distance of primary schools such as De Borgh, De Brug, De Windroos, Het Anker and Nautilus College. This proximity makes drop-off and pick-up quick and easy for parents and children alike. Everything we do revolves around a healthy, active and sustainable afternoon for school children aged 4 to 12. We work with a fixed theme calendar built on five pillars: science & technology, food & health, nature & sustainability, sports & exercise and art & culture. Every week brings new, age-appropriate activities—from garden experiments to sporty challenges and creative workshops. Our large, green outdoor space is a major asset. Each group has its own door to the garden, so children can run outside immediately after school to play and explore. The fences between the gardens can be opened, allowing children of different ages to meet and play together. In our raised vegetable beds we teach them, in a playful way, how to grow vegetables and eat healthily through the programme ‘Smakelijke Moestuinen Peuterproof’, adapted for the BSO age group. Inside we offer plenty of room to relax, do homework or be active. We always start the afternoon with a healthy snack and a moment of rest, so every child can recharge after a long school day. Afterwards, children choose whether to join the organised activity programme or to play freely in the corners that we rearrange regularly. Our qualified pedagogical staff are on hand from 07:00 to 18:30 on weekdays. They specialise in guiding school-age children, know the local schools well and align activities with what is happening at school. In this way, SKSG Pinokkio is a familiar place where children feel safe and valued, yet discover something new every single day.
