SKSG Melkweg

Welcome to SKSG Melkweg, the after-school care centre in the Paddepoel district of Groningen. Located at Poolsterlaan 2, our integrated child centre houses day-care, pre-school playgroup and BSO under one roof. For our BSO groups this means that children aged 4 to 12 can enjoy a safe, homely and familiar place after school. We collect children every day from Bisschop Bekkersschool, De Wegwijzer, De Zaaier, De Pendinghe, Bekenkampschool, Fiduciaschool and Bladergroenschool – on foot, by BSO bus or SKSG car. Older children may cycle to us independently under a TOP-contract agreed with parents. Our BSO operates three base groups: Endor (4-8 yrs, max. 21 children), Hubble (6-8 yrs, max. 11 children) and Yavin (7-12 yrs, max. 26 children). Each base group serves as a “home base” where children feel secure and from which they can explore the world. During the day doors may open so children can, if they wish, join another group for a while. We always comply with the statutory staff-child ratio. Our activity programme rests on six pillars: Sport & Movement, Cooking & Nutrition, Nature & Sustainability, Science & Technology, Art & Culture and Hello World! We work with a themed calendar, organise creative craft afternoons, cooking workshops, sports and games, nature excursions and regular trips – during holidays, for example, to the Forum, Lauwersoog or the cinema. In between there is plenty of room for free play, both indoors and in our natural garden. Food and drinks are included: a treat on arrival and a healthy snack around 16:30. We use organic products wherever possible. Our regular pedagogical staff are on hand every day to guide, stimulate and, above all, let children enjoy themselves. At SKSG Melkweg children grow, through positive attention, respect and trust, into independent and self-confident individuals. The best thing you can become is yourself!
