SKSG Groenewei

We are SKSG Groenewei, the after-school care facility located in the Integral Child Center (IKC) Groenewei at Lammetjesplein in Meerstad. As a BSO, we are part of a unique collaboration between SKSG and Public Education Groningen, where childcare and education seamlessly blend together. Our after-school care is exclusively accessible to children from IKC Groenewei and provides care for children aged 4 to 13. Our pedagogical staff pick up children from their classrooms after school or they come independently to our BSO groups, depending on their age. We work with different core groups that align with school classes: Waterlelie, Zonnebloem, and Fluitekruid for children aged 4-8, Korenbloem for groups 3 and 4, Berenklauw for groups 5 through 8, Havikskruid for the youngest children, and Bolderik for older children aged 6-13. We believe in an active after-school care where children can discover, develop, and have fun. Our activities focus on culture, nature, and movement. We consciously spend a lot of time outdoors and make use of the beautiful green environment of Meerstad. Children can participate in sports activities, gardening in our vegetable garden, building huts, and learning about bees and other insects. During holidays, we organize extra outings such as visits to the petting zoo, cinema, or barefoot path. Our activities connect with the themes being taught at school, providing a continuous learning line. We work with an activity calendar and use Multiple Intelligence theory when planning our activities. This means we take into account the different talents and interests of each child. We are open every weekday from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. During school weeks, we offer before-school care from 7:30-8:30 AM and after-school care until 6:00 PM. During holidays, we are open all day and organize an extensive program with extra activities. Parents can purchase extended care from 7:00-7:30 AM and from 6:00-6:30 PM.
