Sinne buitenschoolse school De Sprong-Atelier

Sinne after-school centre De Sprong-Atelier is located at Idzerdastins 59 in the Camminghaburen district of Leeuwarden and forms part of the Integral Child Centre (IKC) De Sprong. We provide after-school care (BSO) for up to 36 children aged 4 to 12. The centre works closely with the adjacent Catholic Dalton school De Sprong; after lessons, children from grades 5-8 can walk straight into our studio space and play, discover and relax in familiar surroundings. Our pedagogical staff apply the Dalton core values of responsibility, independence, cooperation, effectiveness and reflection. The spacious, green outdoor area invites nature and adventure education; children can garden, build huts or simply run around. Every week there is a regular yoga class to promote calm and body awareness. We also work regularly in the ‘Sprong Atelier’ on visual arts: painting, sculpting, crafting and technology and culture projects in collaboration with Kunstkade. During school holidays we organise joint activities on the Idzerdastins site, where children from different IKCs meet and go on excursions together, for example to a museum or theatre. We collect the children from their classroom after school and provide a healthy snack and drinks. There is always plenty of space to do homework or simply relax in our reading and games corner. Parents experience the care as safe, homely and challenging: "In the child centre there is calm in the apparent chaos", according to a recent news item. Together with the school and parents we form one warm community in which every child can flourish.
