Scouting BSO

Scouting BSO is Vlaardingen’s green after-school care centre. We are located on the Scouting Maurits Viool grounds in the middle of the beautiful Broekpolder nature reserve. Our site at Watersportweg 18 welcomes up to 75 primary-school children from groups 1 through 8. We were founded by local parents who wanted a different kind of after-school care: truly outdoors, challenging and boundary-pushing. Our motto “for and by children” means that the children themselves help decide how they spend their free time. We work closely with Scouting association Maurits Viool and use their building and grounds, making us the first BSO in the region to combine professional childcare with scouting. All our qualified staff and volunteers hold a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) and meet every requirement set by the Childcare Act and the Municipal Health Service. We run horizontal age groups: Beavers (years 1-2), Foxes (years 2-3), Badgers (years 4-5) and Wolves (years 6-7-8). Outdoor play, getting dirty and wet, having fun and being yourself are at the heart of what we do. We have no computers, just endless opportunities to play, move and explore in nature. Children learn new skills and parents are actively involved. We provide our own transport and offer free parking close to the A20 and A4 motorways.
