BSO Schutkampen

Welcome to BSO Schutkampen, the after-school care located right inside Kindcentrum De Schutkampen at Prins Hendrikstraat 2 in Smilde. Because we share the same building as the primary school, children do not need to travel anywhere: the moment the last bell rings, their free time starts with us. Our permanent pedagogical staff are ready to give children aged 4 to 12 a familiar, welcoming place where fun and development go hand in hand. Every afternoon we begin with a snack and a drink—fruit, a biscuit and something to drink—so the children can unwind from the school day and share their stories. After that, they decide for themselves what they want to do: play freely with friends, romp around on our spacious outdoor playground or join one of the many activities we offer each day. Our programme ranges from nature and technology projects to sports, games, cooking, creative crafts, music and drama. We make full use of all the facilities within the Kindcentrum, such as the playroom, library and play equipment. Outdoor play is important to us: we encourage the children to go outside every day after school—for free play, a structured activity or simply to hang out together in the fresh air. We regularly collaborate with local associations in Smilde to introduce children to sports and other fun clubs. In addition, we provide extra services that make it easier for parents to combine work and family life: a breakfast service for early VSO children, a hot-meal service and a pick-up and drop-off service to sports or clubs within the village (until 5 p.m.). Parents stay informed through our digital parent portal, where we share the children’s experiences. Our Christian identity means that every child is welcome and we treat each other with respect and acceptance.
