BSO Dodewaard

Our BSO Dodewaard is uniquely located on Emmalaan, right between primary schools De Hien and De Bellefleur. We provide after-school care for children aged 4 to 12 in one mixed-age group. The location offers spacious play areas indoors and a private garden where children can play to their heart’s content. We also make use of the playgrounds of both schools and a nearby public playground. Our pedagogical staff pick up the younger children after school; older children are allowed to come to the BSO on their own. We start calmly with a chat and free play, followed by a shared snack of fruit and whole-grain crackers with healthy toppings. This is a great moment for us to hear how the children are doing and what is on their minds. Next, we choose an activity together, but there is always room to adjust the programme to the children’s wishes or to let them decide how to spend their free time. In between, we offer water and tea with a healthy snack. Finally, the children can keep playing in the garden, indoors, or join a game until their parents arrive. Children aged 8 and older are given more freedom: they may go downstairs to play on their own, play outside independently, or even walk home by themselves. We believe every child should feel seen and heard, so we always tailor activities within clear boundaries to each child’s needs.
