Popeye in het Noorderlicht

Popeye in het Noorderlicht is our after-school care location in neighbourhood centre Het Noorderlicht at Gruttoplein 2 in Diemen-Noord. We provide after-school and holiday care here on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays for up to 40 children from primary school De Noorderbreedte, which is within walking distance. The location is housed in the neighbourhood’s community hub, a lively centre where Stichting Welzijn Diemen organises a wide range of activities. Inside Het Noorderlicht we work with two age groups. The younger children (4-7 years) belong to the Whizz Kids. They have their own group room with direct access to a small square where they can play for a while. More often we take the children to the playground just around the corner. The older children (7-12 years) are part of the Blits Kids. They use the space next to the central kitchen, integrated into the hall. Outside our opening hours this space is shared with Stichting Welzijn Diemen. The Blits Kids play outside on the wide pavement in front of the building or on the nearby playing fields. On Wednesdays and Fridays our location at Gruttoplein is closed. Children who need care on those days are taken by taxi to our location on Prinses Marijkestraat. Our pedagogical staff pick the children up after school and guide them safely to the BSO. In this way we provide a familiar place every weekday where children can relax, play and discover new things.
