Welcome to the After-School Care (BSO) of Kindercentrum Het Kompas, located at Mercatorweg 50a in the heart of Hoek van Holland. Since 2010, we have been providing professional and homely after-school care for all primary school children aged 4 to 13 years, both from Hoek van Holland and beyond. Our BSO is open 52 weeks per year from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, during school weeks and holidays. We work with two age groups: BSO group De Kapitein for children aged 4 to 8 years and De Kombuis for children aged 8 to 13 years. For older children, we have the special TienPlus program with the extra homework and chill room De Boei, where teenagers are guided to become independent and social adolescents without being patronized. Our pedagogical staff pick up the children daily from school. Children from Hoek van Holland are collected on foot or by cargo bike; children from schools outside Hoek van Holland are dropped off at our door by taxi or minibus. We work together with De Driemaster, Jozefschool, Inova and other schools in the region. The routes are carefully planned and always under the supervision of our qualified staff. Our spaces are furnished in a homely and recognizable manner, with great importance placed on a safe and familiar environment. We go outside with the children as much as possible, making use of our own green outdoor space and the forest-rich surroundings around Hoek van Holland. The children actively participate in deciding which activities we offer, making them happy to come to after-school care. Parents can use our parent app for direct contact with their child's group. We consider good parent communication essential and discuss extensively the wishes and needs of each child during intake interviews. For children who are allowed to go home or to sports clubs independently, we work with an independence declaration that we draw up together with parents. At Kindercentrum Het Kompas, the development of the child is central. We provide a stimulating environment where children can discover who they are and what they can do. Our pedagogical staff serve as role models and guide children in discovering values and norms focused on safety, respect and development opportunities.
