BSO Nicolaas Start

BSO Nicolaas Start is located inside primary school Sint Nicolaas at Pastoor van Schijndelstraat 28 in Boerdonk, municipality of Erp. We provide after-school care for up to 20 children aged 4 to 12 years. We are open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. There is no care on Wednesday and Friday afternoons. Our core belief is that children must feel at home with us. Only then can they grow. We offer a safe, cosy and challenging place where children can relax after a long school day. The time at the BSO is free time: children decide for themselves whether and which activities they join. We offer activities, but children may also choose to withdraw quietly. We value physical activity. We encourage sports activities and regularly organise outings in the neighbourhood, such as walks, visits to the local playground or the gym of the Hazenpot. For larger excursions we always inform parents in advance. We follow an excursion protocol with clear safety agreements. After school the children receive a healthy snack and something to drink (water or tea). At the end of the afternoon we serve a rice cake or cracker. The table moment is a cosy get-together where we talk about the day. Younger children are collected from the classroom; older children come to the BSO room by themselves. At the start we allow plenty of time for a gentle settling-in period, including an introductory meeting and settling-in sessions, so every child feels safe and welcome.
