MamaLi De Ontdekkers

Welcome to BSO MamaLi De Ontdekkers, located at Dorp 139C in the heart of Benschop. We are a small-scale after-school care facility with room for up to 8 children aged 4 to 13. As part of Kinderland, we provide care in one vertical core group, where children of different ages play, learn and discover together. At De Ontdekkers, we work from a clear pedagogical vision outlined in our pedagogical policy plan. Our mission is to offer children a safe and familiar place where they can develop into social, independent and creative individuals. We uphold four core values: emotional safety, personal competencies, social competencies and the transfer of norms and values. These values are reflected in everything we do. Structure and predictability are central to our daily approach. We work with fixed pedagogical staff who build a relationship of trust with each child. Every day includes fixed moments such as outdoor play, activities around a current theme, creative pursuits and free playtime. We believe outdoor time is very important and therefore carry out as many activities as possible outside, in our own garden or in the immediate surroundings of Benschop. Creative expression is given plenty of room with us. Children have the opportunity to craft, build, draw and paint. We stimulate their imagination and self-expression by offering various materials and techniques. In addition, we pay attention to nature experience. We go on discovery trips in nature, learn about plants and animals and use natural materials in our activities. We work according to the principles of Thomas Gordon and Loris Malaguzzi. This means we take children seriously, acknowledge their emotions and guide them in solving conflicts themselves. We regularly discuss our house rules with the children and are open to their input. In this way, they learn to deal with boundaries and develop social skills. Parents are actively involved in the care. We hold an annual development discussion and keep parents informed through a personal report. At the start of the care, we offer a careful settling-in period, during which we make a familiar start together with parents and child.
