Kaktus

BSO Kaktus is located in the heart of the friendly Vogelenbuurt neighbourhood at Kievitstraat 6 in Utrecht. We provide after-school care for up to 60 children aged 4 to 12. Our groups are organised by age, so every child plays and learns in a familiar setting. Each group has its own cosy space where the afternoon starts together: sharing stories about the school day, enjoying a drink and a piece of fruit or a sandwich. After that, children choose what they want to do. Together with our pedagogical staff they invent activities such as cooking, sports or crafts. Children who prefer to read quietly, listen to music or play a game are given all the space they need. Our large green garden invites running, building, hiding and discovering. On longer days we also visit the Torteltuin and Griftpark. During school holidays we team up with BSO De Leeuw and organise bigger excursions – think of the Botanical Gardens, Het Fort, playground de Watertoren or a trip to a petting zoo. For children who are ready for more independence, we create a personal contract together with parents, for example about travelling from school to the after-school care on their own. Our care is based on the Pedagogical Heart of Kind & Co Ludens. We give children room to feel good, to grow and to discover in a rich environment. We see our after-school care as a mini-society in which we care for each other and the world around us.
