LOC De Bonte Boomhut

Welcome to Leer- en Ontwikkelcentrum De Bonte Boomhut, located at Blauwe Hof 4006 in Wijchen. We are a unique initiative where primary education and after-school care fully merge. Since 28 August 2023 we offer children aged 4 to 12 a continuous day in which learning, playing and relaxing come together. Our centre emerged from a collaboration between parents, childcare organisation De Eerste Stap and education foundation Kans en Kleur. The Ministry of Education has granted us recognition to start this innovative concept. De Bonte Boomhut operates from four pillars: resilience and well-being, powerful didactics, a rich organisation and living environment, and plenty of time and attention for each child. At our centre, children receive their own development plan and, as they grow older, increasingly determine how their day looks. They have a fixed base group with permanent professionals, but also receive lessons from specialised subject teachers for, for example, arithmetic or gym. Because education and childcare times overlap, we can work in smaller groups and children can choose extra rest or more exercise. As our centre grows, opportunities for music lessons or occupational therapy will also arise. De Bonte Boomhut is currently temporarily housed in the building of Kindcentrum Westwijzer at Blauwe Hof. Eventually we will move to a permanent location in the new-build development in the Groene Geest district in Wijchen-West. We grow organically with our children: in the 2024-2025 school year we focus on children aged 4 to 8, and we expand as the children get older.
