Welcome to the after-school care (BSO) of Handj in Handj, located in Kindcentrum de Kingbeek at Sint Catharinaplantsoen 2 in the heart of Grevenbicht. As a child partner of primary school De Kingbeek, we offer small-scale before- and after-school care for children aged 4 to 13 in a familiar, homely environment. Our BSO operates with a maximum of two fixed groups per day, each consisting of no more than 11 children. Children come straight to us after school in the classrooms of the primary school itself. A snack and drink are always ready so they can share their stories and unwind from the school day. Those who wish can find a quiet corner to do homework; afterwards children decide for themselves how to spend their free time: playing inside or outside, joining group activities, or simply relaxing on their own. We are Marjolein Vola and Kim Francot-Murkens, both mothers and each with over 20 years of experience in childcare. Kim trained in Social Pedagogical Care and Marjolein in Social Pedagogical Work. Since September 2016 we have poured our years of experience – Kim at a care centre for children with disabilities and Marjolein as a child-minder – into creating a warm, safe place where every child feels at home. Together with our team we are ready every day to guide, surprise and let the children grow into who they are.
