Kindcentrum Harm Smeenge

We are Kindcentrum Harm Smeenge, an Integral Child Centre in the heart of Beilen where education and childcare flow seamlessly together. Our after-school care (BSO) welcomes up to 20 children aged 4 to 12 and is located on the ground floor of the school building at Hofstraat 18. Children use the bright toddler group room (49 m²) and the spacious Play Hall (73 m²); they also have direct access to the adjoining green schoolyard where they can run, play football or explore the nature corner to their heart’s content. Our pedagogical climate is aimed at making every child feel safe and valued. We operate according to the “7-to-7 model”: we are open from 07:00 to 19:00 so parents can align flexibly with their working hours. The pedagogical staff draw up an up-to-date pedagogical policy plan every year that describes exactly how we support children’s development, how we give room for their own initiative and how we provide structure and boundaries. Volunteers and interns are carefully trained and always work under the supervision of a qualified professional. Activities focus on curiosity and discovery. We recently started the theme ‘Science & Technology’: children carry out experiments themselves, build with simple materials and learn to think logically and cooperate in a playful way. There is also room for rest and homework guidance; older children can do their schoolwork in a separate corner under the guidance of a pedagogical employee. We communicate with parents through the Kidsadmin app: you receive daily photos, reports and can make appointments or ask questions directly. Safety and health are high on our agenda. During all opening hours at least one member of staff holds a valid first-aid certificate. Our rooms are fire-safe, hygienic and child-friendly; the outdoor area is fenced and fitted with play equipment that is inspected annually. We have a clear safety and health policy that parents can view via the app or on paper. In short, at Kindcentrum Harm Smeenge children are given the space to grow, play and learn in a familiar, challenging environment.
