BSO 'De Groene Helden'

Welcome to BSO ‘De Groene Helden’ at Zandspeur 91 in Nieuwleusen! We are the green after-school care where children aged 4 to 12 experience adventure in nature every single day. Being outdoors, exploring and pushing personal boundaries are at the heart of everything we do. We spend almost the entire day outside: we eat and drink outdoors, take morning walks, pick berries and blackberries to turn into tasty treats, care for animals, search for little critters and occasionally light a safe campfire. Nature is our biggest playground and classroom; children use all their senses to understand the world while also finding peace and quiet. Our qualified pedagogical staff pick the children up after school from various primary schools in Nieuwleusen and Dalfsen. Upon arrival we share fresh fruit and drinks, then explain which activity is scheduled for that day. Think of sports and games, creative workshops, gardening, cooking over the campfire or looking after our rabbits and chickens. We work in small, mixed-age groups so children learn from and help one another. Because we spend so much time outside, children naturally learn respect for nature, animals and each other. They develop self-confidence, perseverance and a healthy dose of imagination. During school holidays and study days we organise special themed days such as ‘Discover Your Superpower’ or ‘Mini-Survival’. Parents appreciate the calm, space and personal attention their children receive with us. BSO ‘De Groene Helden’ is part of the De Groene Helden organisation, known for the green primary school IBBO IJskwarts. We share the same vision: children thrive best when they can move freely in a natural environment. Therefore we do not offer crowded indoor spaces, but a large, adventurous outdoor area with plenty of greenery, water and animals.
