Welcome to To Be Kind, location IKC de Wegwijzer Hoofdland – BSO, situated at Hoofdland 2 in Zwijndrecht. We provide after-school care for children aged 4 to 12 in a familiar, Christian environment where every child is valued. Our childcare centre is part of IKC De Wegwijzer, a Christian integrated child centre that combines education and care with the Bible as its foundation. Our BSO is open 52 weeks a year, Monday to Friday from 14:50 to 18:00. After school we collect the children from their classrooms and start the afternoon with a healthy snack of fruit and a cracker or rice cake. During holidays we offer an extensive activity programme; children do not need to bring anything and we provide a healthy lunch with wholemeal bread and toppings such as chicken fillet, 100 % peanut butter or hummus. We operate three fixed BSO groups: De Regenboogjes, De Nijlpaardjes and De Wolkjes, each for up to 20 children from the lower primary years (grades 1–3). Every child has a home group and a regular pedagogical employee who knows and supports them. During activities children can choose what they want to join: crafts, outdoor play, free play in the corners or an excursion. We regularly organise trips to playgrounds or petting farms; written parental consent is required. Our spacious group rooms and secure outdoor area offer plenty of opportunities to move and explore. Clear agreements ensure a safe and calm environment: no running in the corridor, gloves during nappy changes, and always at least one pedagogical employee present. Parents can turn to our parent committee for advice and input; together we make sure every child feels safe, loved and challenged at To Be Kind.
