IKC De Stern

Welcome to BSO De Stern, part of Kindcentrum De Stern located in the Park16hoven district of Rotterdam. We provide after-school care on the same premises as the school, so children step straight into a familiar, safe environment after their school day. At De Stern, child development is approached holistically — we engage the heart, head, and hands. This means we challenge children cognitively while also giving ample space for social, emotional, and creative growth. Our team of pedagogical staff work closely with the school teachers. We are conscious of our role as role models and offer children a natural setting in which to explore, play, and learn. Nature and the rhythm of the seasons are central to our approach. We spend a lot of time outdoors, playing in and learning from nature. Children help in our vegetable garden, bake bread, and learn about sustainability and healthy food. Every week we offer a varied programme including dance, crafts, painting, drama, and music. We celebrate seasonal festivals and follow the yearly cycle of nature. During school holidays we run a themed holiday programme with exciting activities and excursions, so there is always something to do and children never get bored. BSO De Stern is open after school from 14:00 to 18:30 on school days, and from 07:30 to 18:00 during school holidays. For parents who need morning care, we also offer before-school care from 07:30 to 08:30. We value collaboration with parents and encourage parental involvement. The location is easily reached by bike or car, with free parking available.
