Heemhuys Het Zandkasteel

Heemhuys Het Zandkasteel is located at Dorpsstraat 15 in the quiet village of Nieuwvliet, just 1.5 kilometres from the wide Zeeland sandy beach. As part of the national Heemhuys franchise organisation, we offer a homely and small-scale after-school care (BSO) for up to five children aged 4 to 12. Every child is at the heart of what we do. We work in small groups with two permanent staff members, ensuring familiar faces and giving each child the individual attention they deserve. Our approach is based on the Emmi Pikler method: children are encouraged to explore and develop independently and on their own initiative. We believe in a safe, secure environment where structure, calm and regularity are paramount. Our setting includes a large country garden with a sandpit, spacious terrace and an animal paddock where children get to know guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens and ducks. We go outside almost every day – rain or shine – and actively experience the seasons. Indoors there are two playrooms and we use natural toys that stimulate the senses. We regularly make time for children’s yoga and story reading. All food provided is fully organic. Parents appreciate the warm, homely atmosphere and the fact that there are never unfamiliar faces.
