BSO IKC De Edelsteen

Welcome to BSO IKC De Edelsteen Topaas, the place in Zoetermeer where children aged 4 to 13 spend their after-school hours in a safe, challenging and above all fun way. We are part of the Integral Child Centre (IKC) De Edelsteen, a partnership that unites childcare, education and welfare under one pedagogical vision. Our BSO building is located at Topaas 18, right next to Dalton primary school, so children can simply walk around the corner when classes finish. We are ready every school day. On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday we welcome children from groups 1 and 2 in our Green base group (max. 20 children, 2 qualified pedagogical staff). Wednesday is the day we open a mixed group for all ages 4–13. On Friday we focus on younger children up to about 8.5 years. Older children from groups 3, 4 and part of 5 attend our second location at Sieraadlaan 100 on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, ensuring that activities and spaces perfectly match each child’s age and needs. As soon as school ends, a cosy ‘buffet’ with fresh fruit, drinks and a healthy snack is waiting. After a chat about the school day, children can choose: join a development-focused activity or enjoy free play. We use themes that children help to decide, because child participation is important to us. Think of sporty clinics, creative craft afternoons, nature trips to playground De Spil or a visit to Madurodam. During holiday weeks the whole programme is a celebration: a new theme every week, daily exercise and sports, one or two big excursions and plenty of room to meet friends. Our rooms are colourful, clear and safe. Inside you will find a large creative corner, a quiet reading area and a stage for dance and play. Outside we have our own enclosed yard with bikes, go-karts, a football goal and climbing equipment. Children with parental permission may play outside independently – wearing a bright green gro-up vest – while pedagogical staff always supervise. For the youngest children we organise activities close to home, whereas older children increasingly explore the neighbourhood: a sports day in the park, a scavenger hunt through the city centre or a workshop at the Children’s Workshop. Parents arrange everything easily via our gro-up parent app: register or deregister, request extra care or give permission for excursions. We work according to the four-eyes principle, use an access code on the inside door and communicate clearly through newsletters and the parent portal. Together we provide a healthy, safe and opportunity-rich environment in which every child can grow into who they are. That is growing with pleasure, that is BSO IKC De Edelsteen Topaas.
